Diploma in Optometry: What is it about?

Optometry is a very promising field with the advent of so many eye hospitals in our country the requirement for Optometrist has increased manifold. This two year diploma deals with Eye and Eye related structures. During this course, the physiology of vision and vision processing in humans will be taught. Optometrists are primary health care providers for Diagnosis, investigation and management for all Eye conditions including refractive errors. This course will familiarize the student with how to inspect and analyze any ocular problem and prescribe glasses for patients. Many multinational optical chains need trained personnel who can give the right prescription glasses and Optometry gives much scope for a student to develop his/ her skills to start entrepreneurship ventures in setting up an optical store for prescribing optical glasses, contact lenses or low vision aids.
